Welcome to Funky Farm Scrapbook Barn and our new website! I started the business in the Summer of 2007 and opened the website in Sept of that year. I’d completed my studies at university in order to train as a solicitor. Whilst looking for a local training contract in order to complete my professional qualification (something which is unbelievably difficult to find!) I needed something challenging and exciting I could do and so I decided to set up Funky Farm Scrapbook Barn!!! As a very keen crafter myself, setting up a crafting materials website seemed to be the perfect choice as I had the background knowledge from crafting and the business understanding from my legal education!
Since 2007 the business has grown and grown and so too has the sites’ popularity! July 2008 saw the arrival of our baby girl Grace! Her arrival into the world was very traumatic and so after I had her I decided to continue running the business as it was something I can easily do from home whilst looking after her and I love it so much. I’ve ‘met’ some wonderful people through running the site and am so touched by the wonderful emails, telephone calls and comments people send me. It makes everything worthwhile and makes me so happy to think I’ve really made peoples’ shopping experiences so pleasurable!
Why the name Funky Farm? Well we live on a farm in the Worcestershire countryside by the Malvern Hills! It’s a stunning area to live and the farm has taught me an awful lot about animals, their characters, how to care for them, I’ve learned how to lamb a ewe and calf a cow which I find amazing – I’m like a midwife to animals!! I have a pet horse Dougal, he is my hero! I love riding him and there’s nothing better than taking a couple of hours out to hack through the gorgeous countryside! The piebald horse on the website is based on Dougal (how could I leave my big buddy out of the website!?) Until Sept 2009 I had a pet cow called Meg, I raised her from a calf and watched her grow into a beautiful cow, in June 2009 she had a calf of her own – Meglet! Sadly Meg passed away rather unexpected in Sept ’09 however I thought it only right that the cow character on the website be based on her!
I hope you enjoy the website, I think the new look certainly suits the name and theme!! I hope to continue growing the site more and more and am always on the lookout for new, different and exciting products!! If however you don’t see something you’d like, please contact me and I’ll try my best to help! You’ll find some lovely products on the site, some less common products which help to make the site unique!
Also offered is a FREE POSTAGE option which doesn’t require you to spend a small fortune in order to qualify! Something which I know I look for when I shop – a trusted reliable service and value for money! If you’re after a little reassurance, just read some of the comments customers have emailed to me and many of these customers return time and time again!
I run a newsletter service which everyone is more than welcome to join! Please contact me and I’ll be happy to add your email address. The newsletter serves a variety of purposes including keeping you up to date with new products added to the site as well as the latest offers, special events and more, so what have you got to lose by joining?!!
I’m sure there’s much more I’ve forgotten but this space gives me the opportunity to say “Thank you!” for your support so far; I hope the site will continue to grow and hopefully provide everyone with years and years of happy and fun shopping!
Best Wishes
